Thomas Peyer has been named as the new chief finance officer of FIFA, replacing the disgraced Markus Kattner.

With 25 years of experience in banking and insurance, Swiss finance expert Peyer most recently worked as CFO of Kuoni Group, and he will take up his new position at FIFA on September 5.

His Swiss-German predecessor, Kattner, was fired from the position when his involvement in the self-enrichment scandal that brought down former FIFA president Sepp Blatter came to light.
