First Ghanaian player to score at the FIFA World Cup

In 2006 Asamoah Gyan scored against Czech Republic in what became Ghana’s first goal at the World Cup. Ghana had lost 0-2 against Italy in their debut game in the Mundial and they needed Asamoah’s goal to set the tone for the Black Stars to victory. The Black Stars won that game 2-0 against high flying Czech side.

Scored the fastest goal in the 2006 FIFA World Cup

Asamoah Gyan scored a goal against Czech Republic under two minutes and it stood as the fastest goal scored in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

BBC African Footballer of the Year

The Ghana skipper was adjudged the BBC African Footballer of the year after helping the  Black Stars finish runners up in the 2010 Africa Cup of  Nations and the quarter finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

African greatest scorer at the World Cup

The 31-year-old has six goals to his name in the FIFA World Cup. His goal against Portugal in 2014 FIFA World Cup enabled him to surpass Roger Milla as the highest African scorer in the World Cup.

Winning the UAE top scorer three consecutive times

Gyan following a surprise move from Sunderland in the English Premier League in 2012 to Al Ain achieved the most productive aspect of his club career, winning the top scorer of the United Arab Emirates Pro League three times on the trot- 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Highest earning African footballer

The former Udinese striker became the highest paid African footballer in 2015 when he signed a mouthwatering 227,000 pounds a week deal with Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super Ligue.

Ghana’s all-time

Asamoah Gyan is Ghana’s highest scorer in international football with 51 goals in a career which date back to 2003. He is also the first Ghanaian to hit half a century goals in national team football.

First Ghanaian to score in six consecutive AFCONs

He has bagged eight goals for the Black Stars in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), making him the joint highest scoring Ghanaian in the AFCON. He shares this feat with Andre Ayew.

Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, on Saturday, July 8, 2017, was honoured by the Alfred Noble University in Ukraine for his achievements in football.
