Thomas Waldrom and Olly Woodburn scored two tries apiece as Exeter Chiefs taught Premiership new boys Bristol another lesson by winning 34-17 at Ashton Gate.

Bristol have now lost all four games back in the top tier and although they made a fist of it after the break, the damage had been done in the first half.

Woodburn finished in the corner after only three minutes following some slick handling from the Chiefs and Sam Hill laid on another try for the wing as Bristol came under immense pressure.

Waldrom got in on the act by crashing over for a third try, which Gareth Steenson converted to make it 24-5 at half-time and the prolific number eight helped himself to another early in the second half.

Ross McMillan and Max Crumpton went over for tries to give the home faithful something to shout about, but Hill darted over for a fifth for last year's runners-up and took his haul from the tee to 16 points as the Chiefs made it back-to-back wins.
