Penguins keep winning in NHL, Wild close in

The Pittsburgh Penguins extended their winning streak in the NHL to five with a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Sidney Crosby and Nick Bonino had two assists in a dominant performance by the Penguins, who got goals from Trevor Daley, Carl Hagelin, Chris Kunitz and Kris Letang on Saturday.

The Penguins are third in the Metropolitan Division, a point clear of the New York Islanders.

The Islanders went down to the Dallas Stars 3-0 as goaltender Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves in the shutout.

The Minnesota Wild's hunt for a wildcard in the Western Conference continued with a 3-2 shoot-out win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Charlie Coyle and Zach Parise scored in the shoot-out as the Wild moved to within a point of the Colorado Avalanche.

A double from Pavel Datsyuk lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a comeback 5-3 win over the Florida Panthers.

A three-goal third period saw the San Jose Sharks beat the New York Rangers 4-1 and the Ottawa Senators thrashed the Montreal Canadiens 5-0.

Rookie Oliver Bjorkstrand scored his first NHL goals to help the Columbus Blue Jackets past the New Jersey Devils 6-3.

The Toronto Maple Leafs cruised past the Buffalo Sabres 4-1, the St Louis Blues shut out the Vancouver Canucks 3-0 and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Arizona Coyotes 2-0.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Boston Bruins 2-1.
