1995 FIFA Player of the Year, George Oppong Weah visited the President of Ghana on Tuesday 14th February, 2017 at the Flagstaff House to discuss issues of mutual concern and benefits between Liberia and Ghana.
Weah who is at the moment a Senator of the Montserrado Country in Liberia has applauded the resilience of President Akufo-Addo, who was successful on his third attempt at the Presidency, describing it “as a lesson for all of us. If you don’t succeed at your first attempt, try again.”
The former AC Milan striker will be contesting for the President of Liberia in their upcoming elections slated for 10th October, 2017.
George Oppong Weah is the only African to win the FIFA Footballer of the Year award in 1995. He was adjudged the European Footballer of the Year and the African Footballer of the Year in 1995 to complete a hat-trick of individual awards.

However, his only regret was failure to play in the FIFA World Cup during his illustrious football career.

It would be recalled that the former Ivory Coast and Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba was also at the Flag Staff House to pay a courtesy call on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana.
