Manufacturer beats Volkswagen, becomes world’s top-selling automaker

Toyota has beaten Volkswagen to become the world’s top-selling automaker.

According to the carmaker, it has outsold Volkswagen on a year-to-date basis since July.

Data shows this to be true with Toyota’s vehicle sales totaling 8.35 million in the January-October period, while Volkswagen sold 8.26 million vehicles during the same period.

Volkswagen’s loss can be attributed to it’s diesel emission scandal.

So far, this scandal has cost the company’s shares to go down and the first quarterly loss in 15 years.

Looks like the once prominent auto manufacturer may never recover despite it's 5 step strategy for a major comeback.
