Jordan targets win as Xmas gift to Aston Villa fans

Ghana international Jordan Ayew is targeting victory as the perfect Christmas present to Aston Villa fans.

West Ham are the visitors on Boxing Day with trips to fellow strugglers Norwich and Sunderland to follow.

The £8.5m striker is fired up to collect three points this weekend against the Hammers - and bring festive cheer to supporters.

Ayew told AVTV: “I think we are getting better and better. We’re aiming for three points in this next game.

“Then we start again in the next match but hopefully this coming weekend will be a very nice Christmas present for our supporters and the club.

“We’ve been working hard all season but luck hasn’t always been on our side.

“But if we play like we did in the second half against Newcastle we will win games.”

Ayew, 24, has scored four goals in his last eight league games including the dramatic point saver against Newcastle on Saturday.

On his goal against the Magpies, he added: "I try that in training - looking to bend the ball from that angle.

"Thankfully this time I did it well and got a bit of luck and the ball found the net.

"It was a very important goal for the club, the supporters and the confidence of the team. I think it was one of my best ones."
