President John Mahama has sworn in John Kudalor as the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The president charged him to check indiscipline on roads to avert unnecessary deaths.
Until his appointment, COP John Kudalor was Director General of Police Operations, a position he held for more than three years.

"The 60 of our compatriots, who died in the accident on the Kintampo road, I believe that the Police Service is working with the National Road Safety Commission to continue to do its best to see how we can bring down the rate of vehicle accidents," President Mahama said during the swearing in ceremony.
Speaking on the numerous road carnages, the IGP said "With this ghastly incident happening, which is one too many, we are going to go back to the board and ensure that our men on the road also implement the law to its letter to ensure that lives are saved."
He has also assured to instil discipline on our roads.
He took over from the former IGP Mohammed Alhassan.
Kudalor has a 20-year wealth of experience in the police service and was in charge of monitoring the 2012 general elections.
