Gwen Jorgensen lived up to her billing as favourite with victory in the women's triathlon at Rio 2016 on Saturday.

The field remained tightly bunched until the final element and it was in the run that Jorgensen pulled clear to finish ahead of 2012 champion Nicola Spirig.

Vicky Holland just edged fellow Briton Non Stanford off the podium in third spot.

Jorgensen's triumph represents USA's first triathlon gold, with the sport having first appeared at the Games in 2000.
