Sprinter Sacre rolled back the years to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase for a second time on day two of the Cheltenham Festival.

The 10-year-old's racing career was in doubt when he pulled up in the Champion Chase last year after a heart problem kept the veteran chaser out of the 2014 season.

But Sprinter Sacre returned for another shot at the big race he also won in 2013 and the Nicky Henderson-trained 5-1 shot sprung a surprise by surging home to beat favourite Un De Sceaux by three-and-a-half lengths.

The well fancied Un De Sceaux was expected to give Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh a fifth win of the Festival after Yorkhill added to their opening-day treble by winning the Novices' Hurdle, but Sprinter Sacre bolted up the hill under Nico de Boinville to regain his title.

De Boinville told Channel 4 Racing: "He means so much to us. He's had a couple of desperate years and was almost close to retirement. It's incredible, I'm flabbergasted."

Trainer Henderson added: "Dreams do happen, they come alive. It's unbelievable. He's been a very special horse. He has to be as good as he ever was to do that."

Outsider Special Tiara finished third in feature race of the day, while last year's winner Dodging Bullets was well off the pace in seventh.??

It was also a special day for the Twiston-Davies family, with trainer Nigel saddling RSA Chase winner Blaklion and his son Sam riding Diego Du Charmil to victory for the Paul Nicholls yard in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle.

More Of That, trained by Jonjo O'Neill and ridden by Barry Geraghty, was well fancied to win the RSA Chase over three miles, but could only finish third as Blaklion came home under Ryan Hatch by half a length from Shaneshill.

O'Neill revealed that More Of That bled from both nostrils, while No More Heroes - another leading contender - suffered a tendon injury.

Any Currency scored in the Cross Country Chase and Diamond King - ridden by Davy Russell and trained by Gordon Elliott - took the Coral Cup.

There was a sense of deja vu when Yorkhill gave Walsh a 49th Festival victory and yet another success for County Carlow-based handler Mullins, but there was no further joy for the prolific duo, who were left to settle for third in the final race of the day as 5-1 shot Ballyandy won the Weatherbys Champion Bumper ahead of Battleford and Bacardys.
