David Ferrer and Milos Raonic moved into the semi-finals of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi on Thursday at the expense of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Kevin Anderson respectively.
World number seven Ferrer made light work of seeing off Tsonga in the opening game of the exhibition tournament at the Zayed Sports City International Tennis Centre, racing to a 6-1 6-1 victory.
Ferrer, who will face tournament favourite and fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the last four on New Year's Day, needed only 24 minutes to wrap up the first set courtesy of three breaks of serve.
Tsonga was unable to respond, as Ferrer ended a year in which he won five titles on a high note and set up a hard-court encounter with his compatriot Nadal.
Powerful Canadian Raonic came out on top against Anderson in the battle of the big servers.
Raonic and South African Anderson were making their tournament debuts and the former secured a break in each set to win 6-3 6-4 and book a semi-final against French Open champion Stan Wawrinka.
