This Hilarious SNL Sketch Shows a Muscle Transformation Gone Wrong

This past weekend, comedian John Mulaney took over hosting duties <a href="https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/g31153758/john-mulaney-7-best-snl-sketches/" id="08da5f2b-c3ff-3663-aa8a-e1c234ea05ac"> on </a> <a href="https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/g31153758/john-mulaney-7-best-snl-sketches/" id="fbbc6bb4-439f-3ea8-a015-c54ae1c8f506"> Saturday Night Live </a> . And one of the funniest sketches of the night was about cast regular Kyle Mooney's 'transformation' into a super buff ...

In the sketch, Mulaney walks into Beck Bennett and Mooney's office on Monday morning to discuss a sketch he wants to do about a strip club and male strippers.

"I just want to make sure you, Beck, are okay with taking your shirt off?" Mulaney says, purposely avoiding asking Mooney the same.

Bennet is in, but Mooney doesn't catch the hint.

"Do you think you'll be needing me in the sketch?" asks Mooney.

"As like, the awkward guy?" says Mulaney.

"No as like, one of the dancers?" he says.

Mulaney quickly retorts saying he doesn't know if Kyle is "built" for that, which spurs Mooney to discusses how his appearance typecasts him into one role: the dork.

"People think of me as one thing... and I think it's time for me to change that."

The next morning, Bennet opens his door to music blasting and weights crashing, finding the place cluttered with barbells and Mooney in a cut-off tank and goggles, lifting with actor Justin Theroux and a nutritionist.

While Beck tries to work, Mooney is getting in his reps on the bench press, doing weighted medicine ball ab work, and drinking green juice.

By Wednesday, a visibly buffer Mooney gives a status update, his voice noticeably lower. "So I've been hitting it pretty hard. I've gained 37 pounds of muscle in two days," he says. "And I'm feeling like 'GET ME IN THAT STRIP CLUB SKETCH!'"

By Thursday, he also makes note that he's been treated differently ever since his transformation. While he's doing weighted rope pulls in one of the SNL hallways, his co-workers are taking notice at "how hot" he looks. He's crushing grilled chicken and soaking in the attention.

By Friday, Kyle is officially jacked. His jaw is even more square. He's outfitted in an even smaller muscle tank, is slightly bronzed, has whiter teeth, and his hair is slick.

"Well, I put in the work, became less interesting, and now they're gonna put me on the cover of SNL magazine," he says. And he has a meeting with show creator Lorne Michaels to discuss if he'll be in the sketch, who of course, wants to touch his muscles.

Not surprisingly, Kyle makes it in. And by Saturday, he's ready to go in his stripper costume. But John finds him and cuts him at the last minute, stating they're only going with "a bunch of awkward guys" for the sketch now. Bummer.

Needless to say, this is not the type of experience you should expect if you decide to switch up your workout routine, work with a nutritionist, and transform your body . You wouldn't physically be able to pack on 37 pounds muscle in two daysbut you'd also probably be spared the indignity of missing out on the stripper sketch of your dreams.
