In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD removes a stubborn pearl-like milia from a patient. Its a simple yet satisfying procedure with a gem of a result.
In the clip, Dr. Lee says shes getting some of the bumps off the patient in question and that includes this milia. Dr. Lee nicks the surface of the skin to express the milia with ease. She then pushes down with a comedone extractor to tease out the compacted contents. What is produced is an organically shaped little white formation.
But Dr. Lee has a hard time kicking the milia to the curb. You can hear the famed derm mutter, "Come on, let go. Let go," in the clip as she pulls the extraction away. What a stubborn little thing.
One fan described milia in general as looking like a little pearl or sesame seed, which is a truly on-target comparison.
Milia are tiny, dome-shaped bumps on the skin that contain dead skin cells trapped in small pockets near the skins surface. They are actually nicknamed baby acne or Epstein pearls, in some cases.
