There were a whole bunch of deaths in Games of Thrones' big Battle of Winterfell episode, but one stood out as being exceptionally heroic: that of Lyanna Mormont, the young Lady of Bear Island.
Besides the ice zombie dragon Viserion , one of the Night King's most fearsome assets was his undead, club-wielding giant. And who better to take on this massive antagonist than Lyanna, the tiniest warrior on the battlefield?
No one. Because even though Lyanna is small ( and just 13 years old ), she's a badass warrior. After charging at the giant, she was scooped up and squeezed to death in his massive fist-but just before she died, she managed to stab him, fatally, in the eye.
Fans were sad to see Lyanna Mormont meet her death, but applauded her heroism all the same. One person pointed out that Lyanna "was more useful than Jon and Dany on dragons combined."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly , Bella Ramsey-the 16-year-old actress who plays Mormont-talked about the advice she received from director Miguel Sapochnik.
"There was one thing he said to me that I dont think Ill ever forget," she said. "I wasnt sure if she would be really scared or just a slight bit of scared. We tried it several ways. He said, 'Its like someone removed her fear gene.' And that was just yeah, that was a really great bit of direction."
Even though it must stink to have your character killed off, Ramsey felt Mormont went down in the best way possible: "Her story maybe had the potential to grow, but she was going to go at some point, because everyone does, and this way she went was the best way she could have."
