  • HBO's Euphoria continues to deliver juicy and provocative moments week after week.
  • This week saw Zendaya's character, Rue, break down the art of a modern dick pic.
  • Here's a bit more about the scene.

Clearly, nothing's off-limits on HBO's Euphoria. A week after the show brought us the Dick-pocalypse that drummed up controversy as the show was launching, it returned with an artful-and service-filled!-take on modern culture: the dick pic.

As Jules (Hunter Schafer) began detailing her online and semi-anonymous relationship with 'ShyGuy,' she mentioned that she had received a dick pic from him-at which point Rue, the protagonist played by Zendaya , brought up a point: a scale was needed in the picture for proper reference. The scene then shifted to a classroom setting, modeled after an old slideshow presentation, with Rue taking us through the art of the dick pic.

"Some people say that eyes are the windows to your soul," Rue said over the ongoing chipper of the old-timey projector. "I disagree. I think it's your dick, and how you fucking photograph it."

Rue goes on to identify two types of dick pics: unsolicited and solicited. She digs deeper into the "solicited" category, which "[make] up for about 1% of all dick pics sent and received." Continuing, she details the three subcategories of the epidemic that make up that 1%: terrifying, horrifying, and acceptable.

This moment fit in with their conversation, but in a way, also seemed to exist as a standalone piece of content, meant to go viral and be shared, context be damned. Scenes like that have not been out of the blue in Euphoria thus far, which saw an anime-style Harry Styles gay affair sequence play out earlier in the episode. It also managed to work Charles Manson into the fray, just to add to the momentary insanity.

The sequence came to an abrupt halt, as Rue judged the pic that Jules shared. "His lighting is nice, his room looks clean, and he looks well groomed," she said. "OK, yeah, I'm beginning to understand the appeal."

It was an entertaining sequence through and through-although it's one that will surely take on a different meaning once they discover that the ShyGuy Jules has been in contact with is actually their violent classmate, Nate .

Until then, let's enjoy this for the outrageous-and outrageously entertaining-moment it was.
