Afari Gyan purchased Nissan Van for GH₵2.6k

The former Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Afari Gyan purchased a Nissan Mini Van 2007 model for just Ghc2, 676.

This was disclosed in the 2015 Auditor General’s report.

The report added that the former EC chair bought the vehicle at an auction where many more vehicles were sold at the election management body.

The members of the Commission appeared before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC). The Chairperson of the EC Charlotte Osei led the delegation that appeared before the committee.

The Auditor General’s report also revealed that a Nissan Hardbody was auctioned for only Ghc140.

Osei when questioned about the auctioning of the vehicles said they were valued by the State Transport Corporation (STC) in 2013.

The EC was also indicted in the report for its failure to account properly for cars disposed of and payment of GhC 18,785.10 without adequate supporting documentation.
