Electricity consumers are to experience further power outages.

The West African Gas Pipeline Company had developed a fault early this morning and will be repaired, the energy ministry has stated.

They include the 220MW Asogli Plant, the 110MW Cenit Plant, the 110MW Tema Thermal 1 Power Plant and the 50MW Tema Thermal 2 Power Plant.

Reports earlier indicated that Nigeria has cut gas supply to Ghana over $120 million indebtedness.

The latest development means Ghana will lose about 600 megawatts of power from the country’s national electricity grid.

But Communications Director of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, Edward Bawa said Nigeria not has cut gas supply to Ghana.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia disclosed during a public lecture that the current power crisis the country is plagued with is partly due to government’s failure to settle a $100 million debt it owes Nigeria Gas.

He stated that “Nigeria Gas is, therefore, dragging its feet with regards to the supply of gas while this amount is unpaid.”

“Ultimately, the dumsor problem is more of a financial problem than a technical one,” he suggested.
