Zeinab Denderi: UDS gets first female SRC president

The University for Development Studies (UDS) has elected its first ever female president to steer the affairs of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

Zeinab Mohammed Denderi won the Nyankpala Campus run-off election by a slim margin of just 10 votes.

She polled 761 votes (representing 50.3 percent) as against her contender, John Bosco, who polled 751 votes (which represented 49.7 percent).

UDS, built as a multipurpose campus, has four campuses: Tamale, Nyankpala, Wa and Navrongo.

“Alhamdulillah!! It was never an easy journey but you made it possible," the SRC pesident-elect wrote on his Facebook page.

"We won, UDS won!! It is a collective win thus a collective effort and responsibility. We promise to deliver collectively In Sha Allah.”

The election was held after an injunction on the elections was overturned by a court this week.

The President elect is a level 300 Social Change Communication student and Solomon Titus Glover is the Vice President elect for the 2019/2020 academic year.
