10-year-old schoolgirl commits suicide over social media post

Parents of Ashawnty Davis said their daughter was unable to withstand the ridicule and shame that she had to suffer as a result of not only the bullying, but also posting it on social media.

Parents of Ashawnty Davis were reported by The Sun as saying their daughter was unable to withstand the ridicule and shame that she had to suffer as a result of not only the bullying, but also posting it on social media.

Her father, Anthony Davis said in an interview with KDVR-TV that “It’s just devastating. She was just a child of joy and she brought joy to everyone.”

Ashawnty’s mother, Latoshia Harris said that after seeing the video of her being bullied while other students stood by, the youngster got devastated and hanged herself.

Reports indicate that Ashawnty had been on life supports for two weeks until Wednesday when her corpse was removed.

Authorities of her school have reportedly said “This is a heartbreaking loss for the school community.”

They assured that “Mental health supports will be made available for any students who need help processing the loss.”
