After a tumultuous career which has seen him play at Hertha Berlin, Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund, Portsmouth, AC Milan (twice) and Schalke, Boateng decided to join Las Palmas on a one-year contact this summer.
The Ghanaian, on his debut for the Spanish side, dove to steer home a fine header following a whipping cross from former Liverpool winger Nabil El Zhar.
It represented the perfect start to Boateng, but the 29-year-old is by no means the first Ghana player to score on his club debut.
Asamoah Gyan [Sunderland vs Wigan] Saturday, 11th September 2010
The Ghana striker lived up to expectation by netting on his debut in Sunderland's 1-1 drawn game with Wigan Athletic.
The £13million debutant, who replaced Dannu Welbeck at half-time, wasted little time by scoring in the 66 minutes after firing home a left-foot effort from Jordan Henderson's cross.
The Black Cats appeared to be heading for three points until Tom Cleverley's effort hit team-mate Antolin Alcaraz and spun into the net in the 87th minute.
Sulley Muntari [AC Milan vs Cesena] 19th February, 2012
Muntari scored on his AC Milan debut in a 3-1 win over Cesena in the Italian Serie A.
The Ghanaian tucked home the opener afetr Cesena goalkeeper Antonioli spilled a Thiago Silva powerful free-kick at the edge of the box.
Muntari went ahead to score 8 times in his three year spell with AC Milan.
Majeed Waris [Valencienneds vs Bastia] 12th January 2014
Abdul Majeed Waris couldn't have had a better way to win over his new manager Ariel Jacobs and Valenciennes fans in his debut game for the club as he grabbed a goal and an assist.
Waris turned from provider to scorer after the break as he collected a pass from Tongo Doumbia to slot home with his left and seemingly put the game out of sight.
Valenciennes won the match by three goals to two.
Asamoah Gyan [Shanghai SIPG vs Tianjin Teda]
Gyan was named as a substitute in a Chinese Super league match against Tianjin Teda on July 16 2015. With his Shanghai SIPG losing 1-0, the Ghana captain came on as a substitute to win a penalty which drew the two teams level.
Gyan then headed home in the 80th minute to make it 2-1 minute and win the game which seemed destined to end in a draw.
Michael Essien [Panathinaikos vs Levadiakos] 24th January 2016
Essien expressed himself with his debut goal for Panathinaikos in a 2-0 win over Levadiakos in the Greek Super League.
The 33-year-old Chelsea legend put the game to bed for the Greens with a superb finish in the 78th minute after Marcus Berg in opened the scoring in the 57th minute at the Levadia Stadium.
Andre Ayew [Swansea vs Chelse] 8th August 2015
Ayew delighted the Swansea City fans by scoring on his debut at Chelsea.
The summer signing was very impressive, with his equalising goal in the first half a moment of real quality.
Having seen his initial attempt blocked, the former Marseille forward showed great intelligence to drag the ball back before rifling home.
