Asamoah Gyan named in top 10 highest earning footballers list
Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan and Yaya Toure are the only African players to make the top 10 list of highest earners.
The list which takes into account the weekly wages of football players has the names of the biggest stars across the globe.
Barcelona’s Neymar made his entry into the top 10 after his new deal with the Spanish club that will keep him at the Camp Nou until at least 2021.
China has been paying big for football stars and it comes as no surprise that the top two spots are occupied by players from the Chinese Super League.
Hulk whose arrival ignited Asamoah Gyan’s exit from Shanghai SIPG is the leading runner with a whooping GHS 1,540,000 a week’s wages.
Former Premier League player Graziano Pelle follows with GHS 1,400,000 at Shandon Luneng Taishan.
The world’s most expensive football star Paul Pogba comes in third position following his transfer move from Juventus to Manchester United.
Pogba who cost a whooping GHS 428,600,900 earns GHS 1, 400,000 at the Manchester club.
World Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo and rival Lionel Messi make the top 10 with Ghana international Asamoah Gyan having his name on the prestigious list.
He joins Yaya Toure are the only two African players to make the list.
