Oko Vanderpuije eyes Ablekuma South seat?

The mayor is looking to switch to Parliament

Pulse.com.ghhas information that Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije (Mayor of Accra) may contest the Parliamentary seat of the Ablekuma South constituency.

The constituency located on the southern coast of Accra with traditional areas such as, Korle Gono, Mamprobi, Banana Inn, Gleffe, Akoto Lante and some part of Dansoman is a place where Dr. Vanderpuije is very familiar with, having grown up there.

The seat is currently occupied by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fritz Baffour but indications are that he is not too keen on a return to the seat.

The ruling NDC is said to open nominations by August 24, 2015, for all aspiring members of Parliament wishing to stand on the party’s ticket to officially declare their intentions. Dr. Vanderpuije is said to be involved with lots of developmental projects in the  area; one of such is organising free vacation classes for students in JHS and SHS in the constituency.
