WAFA will play as guests to league leaders Hearts of Oak on match day 23 of the 2016
The Phobians unbeaten away run in the ongoing campaign is under severe threat following the impregnable home performance of the Academy lads at the Sogakope AstroTurf Turf.
WAFA in the first round held the Accra giants to a 1-1 draw after Charles Boateng’s first half strike was cancelled by Cosmos Dauda in the second half. Last season at the Sogakope Park, the Phobians played out a goalless draw game which helped them to beat the drop zone as they finished at the 13th position.
Coach Sam Arday’s side in their last Premier League game lost 0-1 at Dwarfs while the Phobians drew 1-1 with Ashanti Gold in Accra.
WAFA is well known for their free flowing football while Hearts of Oak since Sergio Traguil took over the technical department of the club, their play style has changed as they now play possession football.
Ahead of the game, captain of the Sogakope based club spoke with Pulse.com.gh, stating that their target is to end the Phobians unbeaten away run.
“Hearts of Oak is a big club but we are motivated to end their unbeaten away record. We are unbeaten at home and we want to keep our home and that is our target.
“It will be a good game, now watching Hearts of Oak their play has changed but we have the antidote to stop them because we are fired up for this game.”
But Hearts of Oak general captain, Thomas Abbey is optimistic of his side’s win over the Sogakope based club.
“We want to maintain our lead at the top, it will be a difficult game but I’m confidence we will pick the three points against WAFA despite we are playing away,” Abbey told Pulse.com.gh.
“We are calling on our fans to invade Sogakope and we will not let them down because we are going to make them happy.”
