Dr. Langbong Bimi, UTAG President, University of Ghana Branch, told Pulse.com.gh that the association has seen evidence supporting government’s commitment to pay them.
"Yes we have suspended the strike action. It is not a call off. The reason is there have been sufficient commitment and assurances that the money will be paid. There are documentations to show that they are processing the payment. So we have suspended and given them up to the end of 30th September to pay us fully. If the money doesn’t reflect, we may return to the strike,” he said.

The suspension came two days after the reopening of schools for academic work.
University teachers in the country on August 6, 2015 joined the fray of discontented public sector workers who had laid down their tools, declaring an indefinite strike over non-payment of book and research allowances.
UTAG had said it will not call of the strike until they see evidence to prove the payment of their book and research allowance.
