She explained why she prefer to go natural than go out with a makeup on saying she was brought up in a home where make up was not allowed
The Oscar-winning actress, Lupita Nyong'o who rose to fame after her performance in the “12 years a slave” movie which won her a Golden Globe is known to be one of the celebrities who always rock the red carpet with her natural look and beautiful dark skin looking flawless.
The actress however explained why she prefer to go natural than go out with a makeup on saying she was brought up in a home where make up was not allowed because her mother was a woman who liked to keep it natural
“My mother has never ever worn a drop of makeup in her life—not even at her wedding. Honestly, my mother’s outlook was hard for me to take when I was a teenager and I wanted to experiment. But in the end I appreciated it, because today I can look in a mirror with no makeup on and love myself”.
Lupita who said this in Lucky Magazine's March 2015 issue also added that her mother did not see make up as necessary and she thinks so to but if she puts on make up its not to hide herself but to adorn herself.
“My mother didn’t think makeup was necessary, and I don’t think it's necessary.” she said. “It’s an accessory. It’s as necessary as a pair of earrings, if you know what I mean. It’s something I do to adorn myself. I don’t do it to hide myself”.
The actress also added that she likes to match what she wears with a lip so she makes sure to kip some at all times.
“I always have a [LANCOME] Lip Lover, in one shade or another, in my purse. They just add a little bit of szoozh. I’ll choose the color depending on what I’m wearing and how much tint I want”, she stated.
