"Payola has dropped drastically through me"

Shatta Wale believes that, through him and the internet, Payola has dropped drastically in the Ghanaian music industry.

Shatta Wale

The 31-year-old singer made this statement yesterday (Feb. 22) via his personal Facebook profile.

The “Kakai” hit maker wrote “Thru (through) Shatta Wale and (the) internet, Payola has stopped..I mean it has dropped down drastically...‪#‎NoTime.”

Payola, in the music industry, is the illegal practice of payment or other inducement by record companies for the broadcast of recordings on commercial radio in which the song is presented as being part of the normal day's broadcast.

This has been the ‘hell’ most Ghanaian artistes, especially the upcoming ones go through day-by-day because without it, their records can’t reach the masses.
