During a ceremonial welcome in Berlin, Queen Elizabeth II was presented with a painting of herself alongside her father, King George VI by German President Joachim Gauck.
'Is that supposed to be my father?' Queen Elizabeth II asked German President Joachim Gauck, who presented her with a painting of her and her father entitled 'Horse in Royal Blue.'
The Queen who was baffled by the painting asked: "Is that supposed to be my father?"
"That's a funny colour for a horse" - she added.
Her questions prompted Gauck to ask "Don't you recognise him?" and she replied: "No".
The painting which pictured the Queen on a pony while her father watched was by artist Nicole Leidenfrost.
The painting, which commissioned the beginning of the Queen's visit, was produced from a photograph taken in 1935.
