1. Olumo Rock

The famous Olumo Rock towers over the city of Abeokuta in Ogun State. Olumo; which means ‘God molded this’ was a hideout for the Egba people during the 19th century when the warring Dahomey (now present day Republic of Benin) came around. One of its main attractions is the myth behind the serpent that turned into a stone.

2. Gurara Waterfalls

Found in north central Nigeria, the waterfalls is about 30 metres in height and lies on the river of the same name. According to oral tradition, Gurara is named after two dieties found in the area; Gura and Rara. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nigeria.

3. Yankari National Park

The large wildlife park in Bauchi state boasts of an array of flora and fauna. They include several animals including elephants, cheetahs and monkeys. The park covers an expansive area; approximately 2,244 square kilometres.

4. Kalakuta Republic Museum

The home of afrobeats pioneer, Fela Kuti was converted into a museum in 2012 using a grant from the Lagos state government. The anti-government activist through his songs and actions fought against the tyranny of Nigeria’s military regimes and he suffered dearly for it. The museum tells the story of the Zombie hit maker's life and will surely thrill die hard fanatics and curious tourists alike.

5. Aso Rock

Nigeria’s presidential complex in Abuja takes its name from this 400-metre monolith and is one of the capital city’s unmissable features. Several important national buildings including the country’s Supreme Court and the National Assembly can be found around it. Aso means ‘victorious’ in the local language.
