Design chief, Walter de Silva, retires amidst ongoing scandal

The design chief, Walter de Silva, is set to retire by the end of this month.

Walter de Silva, design chief, is the latest Volkswagen executive to leave.

After working with Volkswagen for the past 17 years and being in charge of all the design teams since 2007, the Italian designer's time has come to an end.

CEO, Matthias Müller, made the announcement in a public statement.

Although, de Silva will leave by the end of this month, he will continue to work with the troubled German automaker in an advisory role.
