Police Commander interdicted in cocaine scandal

According to report, on February 1, 2016, Abu Isahaku, a police corporal in Akim Oda, arrested Kwabena Boakye with 55 wrappers of a substance believed to be cocaine.

 

Chief Superintendent Ebenezer Ampofo has been accused by his officers of taking huge sums from drug suspects and releasing them without trial.

Boakye mentioned one Mr. Henaku and Paa Kwesi as his suppliers after offering Isahaku a bribe of ¢1,000 to drop the case which the police officer rejected and arrested him.

The Police Commander reportedly threatened to transfer another officer who refused to take his share of the bribe he received from some drug dealers.

He has also been accused of taking GHC 33,000 from other suspects arrested by the patrol team and promised to give a substantial part of the money to the IGP.
