Update: Victim and taxi driver testify in court

A Circuit Court in Accra hearing a  robbery case at Koala Shopping Centre has asked the Police to furnish it with medical reports on two of the accused persons reportedly on admission at the hospital.

The directive is to allow the court have on its records that the two are on admission.

Three of the suspects, Gilbert Osabutey, Michael Edor Ahiataku aka Old soldier, a private security man, and Frederick Sedro Kwame, who have been charged with conspiracy to rob, have pleaded not guilty.

Obaliko and Quarcoe who sustained injuries during the robbery incident have been on admission since January 9.

The victim, Lydia Horsu and a brave driver, who knocked down two of the robbers on a motorbike with his taxi, have so far testified.

Prosecution said they would be calling three more witnesses to testify.

The complainant in the case is Horsu, a Marketing Administrator with the Koala shopping centre was shot twice while on duty.

According to the prosecution, suspects Osabutey, Ahiataku and Kwame hatched a plan to rob the Shopping Centre and sought the assistance of two others, now at large, who also recruited Obaliko and Quarcoe to carry out the plan.

The Prosecution said on January 8, this year, around 2000hrs, all the accused persons met at the Koala Shopping Centre at Cantonments and Osabutey, who was a supervisor at the Cantonments Branch, briefed them about the movement of the complainant.On January 9, the complainant went to the Koala Shopping Centre, Cantonments. On seeing the complainant leave the office, Osabutey alerted the accused persons through phone calls and Obaliko and Quarcoe boarded a BMW motor bike and trailed the complainant to the American Embassy area at Cantonments where the robbery took place
