4 remanded for stealing EC boss Jean Mensa husband's vehicles

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded four national security operatives for allegedly stealing vehicles belonging to the husband of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Jean Mensa.

The four accused, Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, Albert Paa Kwesi Okyere, Kwasi Acheampong, George Antwi, and one Randy, who is currently at large, allegedly destroyed the metallic gate, entered the backyard of the residence of Dr. Charles Mensa on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, with two towing vehicles with registration numbers, GX3976-20 and GW557V to commit the crime.

The suspects stole a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Nissan Patrol.

They have been charged with unlawful entry, stealing, causing unlawful damage, and conspiracy to commit the crime.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Emmanuel Haligah, holding brief for Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Sylvester Asare, told the court that the accused stole a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Nissan Patrol, loaded them unto the towing trucks, and exited the compound.

He said the accused were apprehended by some military men and handed over to the police and retrieved the vehicles, but drivers of the towing vehicles escaped.

The court presided over by Evelyn Asamoah adjourned the case to August 11, 2021.
