Pimples is an embarrassing skin condition. Here are good practices in avoiding pimples and ways of curing them

The presence of pimples on the skin, especially on the face comes with the awkwardness of having to avoid some social gatherings, which when not treated could develop emotional and psychological effects, mostly low self-esteem.

Pimples are not an overall bad health condition but most skin diseases cause embarrassment and everyone wants to avoid them. Here is your guide to avoiding pimples, ‘the normal everyday skin condition’.

How pimples are formed

Pimple is a skin conditions that results from the skin’s oil glands. The pores in your skin connect to oil glands under the skin creates an oily substance called sebum. Dead skin cells are carried by the oil through the follicle to the surface of the skin.

Best practices to prevent pimples

Pimples are mostly found on the face with rare conditions of them appearing on other parts of the body. The first rule of handling pimples is to develop a good hygiene.

Wash your face with warm water and mild soap at least twice a day.

Try as much as possible not to burst pimples. This may result in pushing it down further to spread blockages in your pores or cause swells and redness of spot. Popping pimples also increases the risk of scarring afterwards.

Remove all make-ups before sleep. The chemicals in the make-ups may have a poor reaction on your skin resulting in unwanted pimples. Buy non-comedogenic make-ups to avoid pimples and acnes.

During shaving, use sharp razors or electric shavers. Blunt blades could cause bumps and result in blockage of pores on your face. Another good practice is to soften skin before shaving with warm water and soup. Shaving creams are also good in preventing pimples that develop from shaving.

Pimples however, is a stubborn skin condition which may result as hard as one tries to avoid it. In the case of some unwanted pimples on your face, here are some quick and painless remedies that could help you.

How to cure pimples

Squeezed tomato juice

Tomato has an antioxidant called Iycopene which prevents cellular damage, preventing wrinkles on the face and redness of skin.

The antibacterial ingredients also remove blackness and excessive oil on the skin.

To remedy pimples on the face using tomato, apply a mask of freshly squeezed tomato juice on the face and wait for at least an hour before rinsing.

Ice

Ice, commonly found in homes can be used to reduce swellings developed from pimples. The ice constricts oil glands, also pushing out excess oil and bacteria from irritated glands.

To use ice for the treatment of pimples on the skin, wrap ice in a clean piece of cloth. Hold it on affected area for 20 to 30 seconds. Repeat process until swelling reduces.

Aloe Vera

Cut Aloe Vera for gel or buy extracted gel. Rub gel on the affected area [mostly face] which is pleasantly soothing and leave for 10 minutes before rinsing. Continue practice until pimples are cured.

Aloe Vera has antibacterial properties and also reduces wrinkles on the face.

Honey

Honey, which acts as a natural antiseptic can be used in treating pimples. It acts as a natural antiseptic and destroys the oil glands and bacteria on the affected area.

To use honey for the treatment of pimples, first wash the affected area with clean warm water and soap. Dry area, dap clean cloth or cotton in honey and apply to affected area. Leave for at least 30 minutes before rinsing.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste can be used as a remedy for curing pimples. White paste has a quicker effect on the treatment of the skin condition.

To practice this use of toothpaste in curing pimples, apply on affected area and leave it overnight before washing your face with cold water. Similarly, application can be done during the day. Toothpaste must be left on affected area for at least 30 minutes.

Egg white

Eggs are common in kitchen. One use of egg white is to cure pimples.

To practice the egg white method for the treatment of pimples, separate the yolk of at least two eggs from their egg whites. Whisk the egg whites and leave it to settle.

Apply on the face and wait for it to dry. Reapply for at least two more times and then leave to dry.

Wait for about 30 minutes and rinse with warm water. The practice generally eliminates scars from the skin.

Lemon

Lemon juice is another remedy for the treatment of pimples. The citric acid content in the lemon juice acts as an antiseptic to kill bacteria in affected area on the face. The acid content also removes excessive oil on the face preventing further pimple development.

To use lemon juice for the treatment of pimples, dip a clean white cloth or cotton wool into the squeezed fresh juice. Apply to affected area and wait for about 15 minutes before washing your face with clean warm water.

For pimples spread all over the face, wipe entire face with lemon juice and wait for 15 minutes before washing with clean warm water. The practice can be repeated twice a day with one in the morning and the other in the evening.

Garlic

Cut garlic and apply to affected area. Wait for about five minutes before washing face with warm water. Repeat application continuously until pimples are gone. This can be a usual practice as a preventive measure instead of a curing means as garlic has antiseptic, antiviral, antifungal and antioxidants as components of its makeup.
