The suspect, Alhassan Hafiz Sibdoo has worked for more than seven years as salesperson at the As- Sahabah company, a cosmetic firm that supply detergents and soaps in the region.

On August 16, 2017, the manager of the company Prince Osman Sahabi caused the arrest of Alhassan Hafiz Sibdoo after he found that an amount of GH¢93,587 was missing and couldn’t be accounted for by the salesman.

This was after he had openly explained to his boss that he did political financing with the sales and mentioned that the regional minister, Salifu Saeed encouraged him and pledged that all his money will be refunded when the party was in power and he (minister) occupied a political office.

At the High Court presided over by Mr William Appiah Twumasi, Allhassan Hafiz said once again that he invested in strengthening the regional communication directorate by empowering communicators and organizing Quran recitals for the party.

He said he did that because the regional minister guaranteed a quick refund when he was given a position to serve.

William Twumasi, taking into consideration the demeanor of the suspect, convicted him on his own plea to a fine of GH¢3,000 or in default serve four years in prison.

The Northern Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP, Alhaji Rashid COP, according to reports by Daily Guide, the party would make a case against the manager of As-Sahabah company, who claimed the convict mentioned that the regional minister and party executives were involved in the spending of the money.

According to him, the party in the region could not doubt the role the convict played during the campaign season because he was part of the communication team, but he never made it known to the party that he was spending such monies.

He claimed that Prince Osman Sahabi was only using the convict to clear his own debt because the convict only told him that the money he had spent was GH¢5,700.
