Officials of the Electoral Commission in the Suhum constituency in the Eastern Region say they will only open the office for operations if they are given adequate security.

According to the District Director of the EC, Mensah Worlanyo, the thugs who were in an “NDC-branded vehicle” forcefully made their way into the office and made away with a printer.
He added that the incident took place after the EC had asked a voter who wanted to transfer his vote to provide documents which will enable the process.
The individual allegedly reported to the office of the NDC in Suhum that the officials of the EC had denied him to the opportunity to transfer his vote. The thugs then drove to the office of the EC to cause chaos

Mr. Worlanyo told Accra-based Class FM that the officials are sceptical about their safety and have since vowed not to return to the office until they are given the needed security.
He said the thugs sought refuge at the residence of the Municipal Chief Executive after their vandalism
