Mahama bribed Bugri Naabu with GHC500,000, V8 to smudge Nana Addo - NPP

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Shiek Mustapha Hamid, the spokesperson of Nana Addo said the incident happened on Friday, October 28.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Sheik Mustapha Hamid, the spokesperson of Nana Addo said the incident happened on Friday, October 28, when the NDC led by Ibrahim Mahama called the NPP northern Regional chairman, Bugri Naabu for a meeting.

He said the meeting took place in the house of Ibrahim Mahama, after 9 pm that Friday and in the meeting was Bugri Naabu, the president and his brother.

He alleged that Ibrahim Mahama offered Bugri an amount of 500,000 Ghana cedis and a V8 vehicle to ensure that Nana Addo is tagged as anti-Northern.

“The president’s brother led the discussion. He said Bugri was supposed to resign from the NPP, and damage Akufo-Addo beyond electability. According to the president, Bugri should paint Akufo-Addo as an anti-Northern person who could never be trusted to advance the course of the people of the North. He was supposed to tell the world that it was Nana Akufo-Addo who got him to turn against Afoko and that he was now wiser...Bugri was supposed to say Akufo-Addo was running a one-man show in the NPP. He was supposed to label Akufo-Addo as a dictator,” Mustapha added.

He believes “This country is in series trouble, we need to rescue this country from serious trouble. The presidency has been so depraved, so muddied, so dirty that I tell you in all sincerity as a Ghanaian that I feel terribly sad as a Ghanaian.”

He continued: “And then they gave the money to Bugri Naabu and he took the money and left, it was a Friday, 28th of October 2016, so the very next day was a Saturday and Bugri Naabu found the one Prudential Bank that he knew would be opened at that time; that Abossey Okai branch of Prudential Bank and then he went and deposited the money in his account. His account number is 0090985590013, account name is Daniel Bugri Naabu.”

Mustapha added that “We want the NDC to know that we shall not be intimidated by them” and urged all party members to stand firm and not to allow themselves to be used by the NDC.

“I want to send a message to any party member who is taking money from the NDC to work against the NPP, please do not do it. If you do so, you work against yourself, your party, and your country,” he entreated.

Meanwhile, Koku Anyidoho, Deputy General Secretary of the NDC has told that the claims by the NPP are false.

“Certainly, the NDC has not bribed Bugri Naabu. There is no evidence to that effect. If Bugri Naabu has accepted something from somewhere and has admitted that he is bribable and so accepted some bribe from somebody, let the police pick him up.”

He said: “Under Ghana’s laws, acceptance of bribe is a crime...Bugri Naabu is a criminal and Mustapha Hamid is an accomplice, and they are the ones who are destroying the image of Northerners and not the NDC.”
