Louis Van Gaal’s early days in the Premier League saw a shocking surprise from Jeffrey Sclupp’s team who outshone Manchester United in an eight-goal thriller.

Player in the Leicester City team were reported to have been blessed by the Leicester City Buddhist monks and wore necklaces for the game they won by five goals to three at the King Power Stadium. Manager at the time Nigel Pearson had no problem with the ceremony of the monks and asked for more of the same if the results was going to be sweet like the one against the Old Trafford giants.

Fast forward to the 2015/2016 Premier League season and Leicester City are out of control. The monks have not been spotted many a times in the stands like the game against Manchester United in 2014.

Off the pitch and behind the scenes, their practices seem to be working effectively and consistently as it probably had in the single game against Manchester United.

Leicester City are top of the Premier League table with 53 points after 26 games, a league with teams such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool. That’s really some feat to achieve considering the players and budget of the club.

But monks don’t look at budget and players, do they? The appointment of Claudio Ranieri might have been a great deal to players’ confidence and the technical set up of the team.

However, considering the heights Leicester City have reached in the league this season, Jamie Vardy’s untouchable goals scoring form that has seen him go top of the scoring chart, and some of the indoor practices taking place at the King Pow Stadium, could Leicester’s success be attributed to the friends of Thai owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha?

This is a story of Premier League leaders Leicester City and the Buddhist monks.
