Ebony Reigns' brand was misconstrued - Nigerian singer

According to Kcee, Ebony’s death is a sad one due to her talent and rare rise, adding that she ‘would have taken African music more global’.

According to the “Limpopo” hitmaker, Ebony’s death is a sad one due to her talent and rare rise, adding that she ‘would have taken African music more global’.

He made the statement during an interview on Pulse TV on Wednesday, 14 February.

“I heard Ebony’s death news two days before coming to Ghana. It was sad because she was doing so well and she was rising very fast. We lost someone that is very talented and someone who would have taken [African] music more global,” he disclosed.

Speaking about her influence in Nigeria, Kcee said Nigerian eyes were on her and people saw her rise.

“I know her and I think a couple of [Nigerians] know her too. The eyes were already on her. We realised she was rising so fast from Ghana and she was doing very well [in Nigeria].”

Kcee, who is currently in Ghana to shoot a music video for his latest single, titled “Burn” featuring Sarkodie, also revealed that he had plans to work with Ebony.

“I was hoping to meet her someday and get to do something. I like her and God knows why it happened.”

He stressed that Ebony’s brand was misconstrued.

“She has the energy. She brings this vibe that everybody likes. You might think she’s a bad girl but that’s her [brand] image…that’s her picture and I think I like her.”

“May her soul rest in perfect peace. I don’t know how it happened. Probably carelessness but God knows the best,” he concluded.
