Expert explains body language of Trump and Obama during first meeting
But if you examine what the experts say, Obama showed more of his dislike for Trump in his body language.
Expert Janine Driver who spoke to CNN said there was no eye contact between the two during the first few minutes of the meeting. It took Obama over a minute and a half to look at Trump which clearly means a lack of rapport between the two.
The expert also noted the manner in which Trump steeples his hands. Steepling is when the fingers come together to form a V shape at the thumbs and index fingers area. Driver said steepling is generally done to intimidate people. She said it is a Trump "go to move" even during his days on the Apprentice, a reality show he hosted.
"The higher the steeple the more you control people," according to Driver. However Trump's steeple is low during the meeting which means he is showing respect for Obama rather than control.

Anytime Trump spoke during the meting, Obama could be seen dong long eye closes which experts call eye blocking. Driver said eye blocking is done with either the hands or eyes, but it is an indication you don't like what you see or hear.
But the body language between the two is not surprising. Obama has from the start not been a fan of Trump and his utterances during the campaign and Trump on the other hand attacked Obama's work several times during the campaign.
