CID invites 3 NDC MPs over AMERI deal
Their homes have since been searched by security officials holding search warrant for documents related to the power plant deal.

Three MPs: Dr Kabena Donkor, former Power Minister and MP Pru East, Dr Dominic Ayine, former Deputy Attorney General and MP for Bolgatanga East and John Jinapor, former Power Minister and MP for Kusawgu, are to appear at the CID headquarters on Monday to answer questions on the role they played in the Ameri deal.

AMERI was tasked to build the power plants, own and operate it for 5years before finally transferring it to the government of Ghana at a total cost of $510m.

But according to the Philip Addison committee report set up by Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, the contract was overpriced by some $150 million.
The deal was for the supply of gas turbines to Ghana, which was to provide additional power to the national grid to ease the biting load shedding exercise that plagued the country at the time.
The committee also recommended to the government to recall owners of the Dubai-based company for renegotiation and that if the company refused to honour the invitation for re-negotiation, the government should renounce the agreement on grounds of fraud.
But the Former Minister of Power Dr Donkor has debunked claims that the AMERI deal signed by the John Mahama government to rescue the country from power crisis had no value.

According to him, an international accounting and auditing firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers, declared that the deal had value for money, hence it does not lie in the mouth of the Addison Committee alone to proclaim it did not have value for money.
“Value for money is essential; it is about whether the project gives good value to the Ghanaian, both as a consumer and future owner of the plant," he said at news conference after the Addison committee was made public.
