The former President is rumoured to be lacing his boots to run again for president after he lost in the 2016 polls to President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Political analysts have tipped him to see off any challenge in the NDC primaries.

However, according to Atubiga, who was convicted for contempt  in 2012 during the election petition, after launching a scathing attack on the Supreme Court, said he is prepared to match the ex-president in spending: “dollar for dollar, cedi to cedi pound to pound.”

“On the grounds, everyone is calling for Atubiga,” he told the media.

Mr Atubiga, who made the comments at the NDC’s unity walk in Accra, said he is the only candidate the ex-president is afraid of.

The unity walk was the second the party organized. Mr Mahama participated in the first one organized in Tamale. However, he could not be part of the second one.

According to Atubiga, he’s the reason the former president could not come for the walk.
