Legendary boxer feels Ghanaian coaches need to upgrade themselves

Three time world champion Azumah Nelson has stated that boxing trainers need to improve in Ghana to bring in more champions into the country

He then has the strong conviction that the improvement of coaching in boxing will see Ghana produce another world champion.

The boxer was speaking to Joy News as he made that statement in response to Ghana not producing the number of World Champions it used to in the days when Azumah Nelson was an active professional boxer.

“You have to understand we need good trainers that can help groom the boxers to become world champions. Let me say that the coaches themselves have to understand to learn more because they don’t want to learn.''

Ghana has not had a world boxing champion since the year 2010 and a number boxers including Richard Commey came close to winning the bout.

Isaac Dogboe is also looking forward to ending the 7 year spell after he goes on to take Cesear Juarez for an Interim Super Bantamweight on 6th Janaury,2018.

Paul Dogboe has served as a trainer to his son Isaac and that of other boxers in Ghana. The passing of great boxing trainers like Napoleon Tagoe and Godwin Kotey.
