Asamoah Gyan got injured when Ghana were held to a one all draw on Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium against Congo.
The 31-year-old striker was the first Black Stars player to be replaced when Ghana were held by Congo in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
According to the head coach of the Senior national football team of Ghana, Kwesi Appiah Gyan over stretched and got injured in the process and that influenced his decision to substitute him earlier.
“Asamoah Gyan over stretched and got a groin injury as a result of that. He will take a scan tomorrow for us to know how serious the injury is,” he told the press at the post match presser.
Ghana will jet off to Brazzaville to face the Red Devils of Congo in the reverse fixture on Tuesday.
Ghana’s chances of qualifying for a fourth consecutive FIFA World Cup is very bleak as they are rocked bottom of the group E of the African zone of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
