Henrik Kristoffersen continued his slalom dominance with a narrow victory in Kitzbuhel as he and Marcel Hirscher took advantage of the season-ending injury to overall FIS World Cup leader Aksel Lund Svindal.
Svindal held a lead of 107 points from Hirscher in the overall standings ahead of Sunday's slalom meet, but the Norwegian crashed out of Saturday's downhill race and it was later confirmed he had torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Subsequently, Hirscher and Kristoffersen – who are second and third in the overall leaderboard – had the chance to close on top spot and it was the latter who led the former home in the slalom.
Kristoffersen made it five victories in six slalom races this season and he has now won more races in the discipline than any other Norwegian.

The 21-year-old was down in 10th after clocking 50.97seconds on his first run, but he outperformed the rest of the field on his second attempt and an effort of 52.99secs gave him a combined winning time of one minute 43.96secs.
That was enough to edge out Hirscher by a mere 0.03secs, the Austrian having improved from fourth on his first run to finish runner-up.
Fritz Dopfer had led at the halfway stage, but he was unable to match the pace of Kristoffersen and Hirscher the second time round and the German had to settle for third place.
