According to Lundgren, the fight was written into the film following Adonis Creed's hospitalization at the hands of Viktor Drago, Ivan's son , in the ring. Ivan and Viktor showed up to the hospital as a power move, and things soon got heated.
"So Rocky comes down in the lobby, and we basically [say], 'Were going to go up there and talk to him, take some photos.' [Rocky says], 'I cant let you do that,'" Lundgren said. "So then theres a kind of shoving match, and I take a swipe at him, and then we end the fight in the lobby... It was fun."
Lundgren joked that he didn't want to get into a fight with Stallone, saying "He's also producing the movie, he's my boss!" And he added that shooting the scene was "interesting, because I hadnt thrown a punch at Stallone since 85, because in Expendables, were on the same side."
"It worked out fine, we both enjoyed it," he continued. "But I think the director decided he didnt want the fight in there. For some reason, they took it out. I havent seen it cut together I think its on the DVD or something. But Stallone was really upset, he wanted it in there. But I guess it broke the flow of the picture somehow, so there you go. Maybe next time."
Unfortunately, that brief and long-awaited rematch never made it into the bonus content on the home release of Creed II.
