A 22-year-old Upper West Side after-school program instructor has been arrested after he reported himself to the police for raping a 14-year-old student.
Jamal Baughan turned himself in to the NYPDâs Manhattan Special Victims Unit around 9 a.m. Tuesday.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree rape.
He allegedly took his victim, a student of P.S. 191 Museum Magnet School, to his apartment April 11, gave her marijuana and then raped her.
The victim's father told The Post that Baughan had claimed to be taking the teenager and other students to the movies for participating in a dance contest.
Her mother then dropped her off at the school where Baughan collected her and proceeded to his house.
âHe asked her to go his house and watch movies and she went,â the father said.
âHe gave her weed and raped her.â
âWe trusted him and he abused his power."
Spokeswoman of the Department of Education, Devora Kaye, said he was "immediately removed from the after-school program in response to these deeply disturbing allegations."
