Chelsea striker, Diego Costa has been handed a retrospective three-game ban after his scuffle with .
Costa appeared to claw at the defender's face as they tussled for the ball and used his chest to bring down the defender.
Though he was not punished for the incident, the FA charged the Brazilian born striker of violent conduct for which he has been banned for three games.
"An FA charge against Diego Costa for violent conduct not seen by the match officials but caught on video has been found proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing," an FA statement read.
Chelsea are however not happy with the decision and are waiting for a written explanation by the FA before responding.
"We are extremely disappointed with the FA Regulatory Commission's decision to suspend Diego Costa," they said in a statement.
"We will await their written reasons before commenting further."
The Spain international will be forced to miss three domestic games.
Wednesday's Capital One trip to Walsall and Premier League fixtures against Newcastle and Southampton.
Costa was also involved in an altercation with another Chelsea defender, Gabriel Paulista who was sent off.
His red card in the Chelsea's 2-0 victory has however been rescinded by the FA following an appeal by Arsenal.
Gabriel however has been charged with misconduct and will wait for the FA's verdict on his punishment.
