Dr Lloyd Amoah, a lecturer with Ashesi University says the leakage of some papers in the ongoing Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE) undermines the credibility of Ghana’s examination systems.“In many ways, it undermines the credibility of our national examination systems and the intellectual integrity of our students and the work that they do. If somebody presents some sterling grades, because of this recurrent problem, it is not far-fetched for somebody to raise questions about the genuineness of the work that has been done,” he said on Starr FM’s Morning Starr.The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) on Wednesday announced the cancellation of five papers in the ongoing BECE on the basis that they have been compromised.They are Papers 2 of English Language, Religious and Moral Education, Integrated Science Mathematics and Social Studies.The leaked papers have been scheduled to be re-administered on June 29 and 30, 2015, according to a statement by the WAEC.Meanwhile the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) has been directed to investigate circumstances leading to the leakage and subsequent cancellation of papers.
