Mali and Egypt played out a draw to round up match day one at this year's AFCON in Gabon.

Ghana now top Group D after Mali and Egypt shared the spoils in the second game of match day one.

The game, played at the Stade de Port Gentil, ended goalless, a result that means Ghana now top Group D following their 1-0 win over Uganda at the same venue earlier during the day.

Hector Cuper's Pharaohs, making an AFCON return for the first time since 2010, failed to break down a compact Mali side coached by Alain Giresse.
The game, which saw legendary Egyptian goalie Essam El Hadary make an appearance to become the oldest player to feature at an AFCON (44 years), was uneventful in most parts.
It was the fifth draw so far in this tournament, which has seen eight games played.

Egypt, record seven-time champions, will come up against Uganda in their next fixture on Saturday January 21, while Mail come face to face with Ghana on the same day, with both ties to take place at the Stade de Port Gentil.
