Prez Nana Addo to launch ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to launch ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ project on Wednesday (April 19, 2017).

The launch will take place at Goaso in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ project is the flagship agricultural programme of the Nana Addo-led government.

It will be rolled out in all the 216 districts in Ghana.

Five main crops which would be cultivated under the project include: soya beans, rice, maize, sorghum and vegetables based on five key pillars including provision of certified fertilizer, seeds, marketing and e-Agriculture, extension service.

The project is expected to create over 750,000 jobs.

The government has also said that it will build a 1000-metric tonnes capacity warehouse in all the districts to ensure enough storage capacity to enable them market the expected yields.

The President will be accompanied by the Minister Agriculture Dr. Afriyie Akoto, other ministers and extension officers.
